Glitch. IDM. Neoclassical. Call it whatever you want. I don't care.
Shortly after completing this album I was contacted by a Japanese animation
director about using this music as a score. It turned out he had been fired
from Studio Ghibli for pitching a film that was not in keeping with their values.
I accepted the opportunity, not knowing this at the time. Actually, I most
likely would have agreed regardless.
He had acquired independent funding, produced the film, and debuted it at an
animation festival. It was a colossal failure. One critic reported, 'the disturbing
imagery, in combination with abrasive, avante garde music...caused at least three
viewers to vomit, myself included.' It was also reported over half the audience
left the screening. Everyone questioned refused to disuss or describe what they
had seen.
I have not heard from him since he informed me about the festival,
and to this day I still have not seen the film.
